Kazakhstan, among only 9 countries out of 197 members of the UNFCCC, presented the Biennial Transparency report (BTR1) at the COP29.
Besides our republic, Japan, Spain, Turkey, Singapore and the Netherlands are among those who have completed such a large-scale work. This was noted by the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, Simon Steele.
This confirms Kazakhstan's leadership in the Central Asian region in achieving the climate goals set out in the Paris Agreement. According to it, the Republic of Kazakhstan is obliged to submit a Biennial Transparency report (BTR1) by December 31, 2024.
BTR1 includes mandatory information on the inventory of greenhouse gases and tracking the implementation of ONUV. BTR 1 also contains information on the impacts of climate change and adaptation and financial support for technology development and transfer and capacity building.
The development of BTR1 was implemented by UNDP in cooperation with Zhasyl Damu JSC within the framework of the GEF international project "Preparation of the 9th National Communication and the first and second BTR".
The main part of BTR1 is the National Report on the Inventory of anthropogenic emissions from sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases, prepared by JSC Zhasyl Damu.
