Scientific communication in the context of Kazakhstan's climate challenges

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research (PIK), held an event at the Pavilion of Kazakhstan within the framework of COP29. The topic of the session was "Scientific communication in the context of Kazakhstan's climate challenges".
The session began with the exchange of a signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research (PIK). Vice Minister M. Oshurbaev and Director of PIK, Professor Ottmar Edenhofer, noted that this agreement will become the basis for strengthening cooperation in the field of climate research, adaptation and scientific communication.
During a panel discussion on climate resilience and lessons from past floods in Kazakhstan, experts discussed approaches to effectively communicating scientific information to the public. The issues of including rural regions in the dialogue on climate change, the role of mass media in highlighting environmental problems and international cooperation in this area were touched upon.
