Kazakhstan will receive 11 billion cubic meters of water along the Syrdarya River by April next year.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov reached an agreement during negotiations with representatives of Central Asian countries. The Minister represented Kazakhstan at the 87th meeting of the Interstate Coordination Commission on Water Management Issues (ICAC).
RESULT: 11 billion cubic meters of water will be supplied to the Shardara reservoir by April 1. This will allow to accumulate the necessary amount of water for the 2025 irrigation season in the southern part of the country.

The growing season in the region was successful. The annual irrigation water supply plan was 20.6 million m3. The water was supplied to the farmers in full, and the work was carried out in accordance with the approved plan.

KYZYLORDA REGION
During the growing season, the actual volume of water entering the lower reaches of the Syrdarya River from the Shardara reservoir exceeded the planned figures. Instead of the planned 500-550 m3/s, the volume was 600-650 m3/s.

KARAGANDA REGION
Agrarians of the Karaganda region are introducing modern water-saving technologies that reduce water consumption by 1.5 times. This was announced at the site of the regional communications service by Acting director of the Karaganda branch of Kazvodkhoz Yergali Omarov.
important: Next year, the branch will continue to overhaul the canals of the Zhartas reservoir. This year, concrete slopes and bottoms were repaired on the Zhartas and Malokomspai main canals.

The Committee on Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is working to provide basin inspections with new equipment. To date, 18 passenger cars, multifunctional devices, sensors for measuring water speed and flow have been provided to basin inspections. The buildings of the basin inspections are also being renovated.
IMPORTANT: Now the total staff of basin inspections is 241 people. Since the establishment of the Ministry, the number of employees has increased 1.5 times. This made it possible to open departments of basin inspections in each regional center of the republic.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has developed a new draft Water Code, which more carefully regulates the powers of the Government, the Ministry, other State and local executive bodies, as well as local representative bodies. This will help to improve the coordination of water resources management.
important: The main goal of the new Water Code is to achieve and maintain a safe level of water use, which allows for sustainable economic development, improve the living conditions of citizens and preserve the environment.

First Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Bolat Bekniyaz spoke about the draft of the new Water Code. Its main goal is to ensure sustainable economic development, improve the quality of life of citizens and preserve the environment through achieving and maintaining a safe level of water use.
