The issue of strengthening food security in the region was considered at a staff meeting chaired by Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov.
The head of the Department of Agriculture of the Aktobe region, Kusayyn Sarsembai, told about the measures taken to ensure the safety and improve the quality of goods in the domestic market.
According to him, today Aktobe region provides itself with 26 basic foodstuffs out of 32 types of food. These are flour, bread, pasta, beef, lamb, horse meat, cucumbers, tomatoes, fermented dairy products, vegetable oil, etc. The remaining 6 types – buckwheat, rice, sugar, salt, pepper, fish are supplied from other regions and partially imported.
To date, the stable fund has 26 tons of buckwheat, 594 tons of sugar, 7,880 tons of grade 1 flour and 37 tons of rice.
"61.8 thousand tons of potatoes, 43.4 thousand tons of vegetables, 40.0 thousand tons of oilseeds were harvested from the harvest this year. In addition, for the off-season period from December to April, from the autumn harvest of 2024, contracts were signed with local producers of goods Prigorodny LLP, Bolat LTD LLP, Arman Farm for the supply of 4,846 tons of potatoes, 390 tons of carrots, 400 tons of onions, 448 tons of cabbage. These volumes will be enough for the specified period," Kusayin Sarsembai said.
In addition, there are 40 greenhouses in the region where tomatoes and cucumbers are grown. This year, 17.5 thousand tons of tomatoes and 0.7 thousand tons of cucumbers were grown in greenhouses. Products from greenhouses are supplied to markets and shops in the region.
569 agricultural fairs were held, where residents could buy fresh products at prices 10-15% below market value.
In general, to stabilize prices for socially important food products, 3764.3 million tenge was allocated from the local budget to provide loans to business entities for the supply of necessary food to the region. Contracts are also concluded with local suppliers and manufacturers for the supply of food. Today, food products of social importance are supplied at a fixed price to retail chains, shops and communal markets.
Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov stressed that fairs held in the region are visited by a large number of people, their organization has shown its effectiveness and their holding should not be stopped. He also instructed to strengthen the monitoring of prices for socially important food products in order to prevent their unjustified increase.
