In 2024, 68 business entities were prosecuted for violations related to the absence of price tags on shelves, in accordance with Article 193, paragraph 4 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses. The total amount of fines amounted to 924,756 tenge.
The lack of price tags on the shelves creates many legal and economic problems, such as violations of consumer rights and principles of transparency in the market. To prevent such cases, the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection of the Turkestan region distributed memos explaining the mandatory requirements for price tags among retail facilities.
According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Consumer Protection" and the Law "On Regulation of trade activities", prices for goods must be indicated. This rule is aimed at ensuring consumer rights and fair competition in the market. Kazakhstan also has state standards for product labeling and price display.
Practice shows that products without price tags are often found in supermarkets and markets. The reasons may be technical failures, deficiencies in the operation of store systems, or temporary delays in labeling new products. However, such situations cause inconvenience for customers, prevent them from planning expenses and reduce trust in retail outlets.
