This year, the basin inspections of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local executive bodies, conducted a survey of 1,502 hydraulic structures throughout the country.
The work was carried out to prepare for the flood period. Based on the results of inspections, the owners of a number of hydraulic structures were given recommendations on how to eliminate the identified shortcomings.
Recall that there are 8 basin inspections in the country: Aral-Syrdarya, Balkhash-Alakol, Yertis, Yesil, Zhaiyk-Caspian, Nura-Sarysu, Tobol-Torgai and Shu-Talas.
"All reservoirs are operating according to the approved schedule, which will be adjusted depending on future forecasts. In order to ensure free volumes for receiving spring floods, water is being discharged from reservoirs in the north, west, east and center of the country. Reservoirs in the south of Kazakhstan continue to operate in accumulation mode," Acting Chairman of the Committee on Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources Gulmira Imasheva said.
