The modernization of equipment continues at the Qarmet metallurgical plant. For the first time in the company's history, two converter housings were replaced within one year, which is an extremely difficult and time-consuming task. Now there are three units in operation.
This was announced by the company's press service.
"We have completed the overhaul of converter No. 1 and successfully put it into operation. This improvement will ensure increased reliability and stability of the converter shop, especially in the smelting area. If 11 months ago there was only one fully functional converter No. 3 in our work, and the other two were in extremely unsatisfactory condition, today there are three converters in operation, two of which were repaired this year," commented Andrey Berg, director of the steel department.
It is noted that the volume of the new converter housing No. 1 has become larger, which will increase the weight of the melting and improve technical and economic indicators. A new caisson is also installed on the converter, which is part of the gas purification system. This helps to improve environmental safety and increase production efficiency.
In less than 11 months, 3 million tons of steel were produced, according to the company. This is comparable to the final figure of 2023.
