Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan strengthens international cooperation at COP29

On November 19, 2024, within the framework of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting climate-sustainable agriculture and adapting agro-food systems to climate challenges.
Vice Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhehanuly took part in a number of high-level events, where he made key initiatives and presented the country's achievements in the field of sustainable agriculture.
The Agency has become an official participant in the FAST (Food and Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation) partnership, aimed at attracting climate finance for the transformation of the agri-food sector.
In addition, the Ministry expressed support for the Baku Harmony Initiative, which promotes the empowerment of farmers, including women and youth.
On the sidelines of COP29, the Ministry of Agriculture signed a memorandum on the establishment of the Forum of Climate-Resilient Villages of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG). This forum will become a platform for the exchange of experience, the introduction of modern agricultural technologies and the development of joint strategies to reduce the effects of climate change.
The Vice Minister noted that initiatives such as FAST, Harmony and the Climate Sustainable Villages Forum are important tools for strengthening climate resilience and food security, primarily through attracting international funding.
The Ministry of Agriculture continues to actively work on the implementation of national and international programs aimed at the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex and strengthening the climatic stability of rural areas.
