Installation of carbon monoxide sensors in homes of socially vulnerable categories of citizens has been completed by 97% in Zhetisu

The installation of carbon monoxide sensors in the homes of socially vulnerable families is being completed in the Zhetisu region. Of the 5,787 such families in the region, sensors have already been installed in 5,619 homes. It is expected that this work will be fully completed by the end of November, the press service of the akim of the Zhetisu region reports.
The installation of sensors is carried out jointly with representatives of akimats of districts and cities, the Department of Emergency Situations and responsible specialists of the contractor organization.
"The installation of such sensors has already shown its effectiveness. For example, compared to the heating season of 2022-2023, in the heating season of 2023-2024, the number of fires in the private sector of the region decreased by 27%. Previously, 4,919 residential buildings were equipped with such devices, and the installation of sensors in the remaining 868 houses was planned for this heating season. To date, akimats of districts and cities have purchased sensors in full, 699 of them have already been installed, the remaining 169 will be installed by the end of November. To prevent emergencies in residential buildings, we urge residents of Zhetisu to strictly comply with fire safety rules," says Elaman Aubakirov, senior engineer of the State Fire Control Department of the Emergency Department of Zhetisu region, Senior Lieutenant of Civil Protection.
In order to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning and fires, the Department of Emergency Situations is strengthening the verification of sensors in residential buildings and conducting explanatory work among the population.
