Sports infrastructure is developing in the Karaganda region. A sports cluster will be created in the area of the Blue Ponds of Karaganda on an area of 67 hectares. It is planned to build an indoor stadium with 10,000 seats and a universal sports complex with a swimming pool, accessible to people with disabilities.
Acting Head Rustam Kozhabekov told about the results of work for 9 months and further plans of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Karaganda region at a briefing of the Regional Communications Service.
– Eight large sports facilities are under construction. Of these, two sports and recreation complexes have already been commissioned - in the village of Topar in the Abai district and the village of Karakuduk in the Bukhar-Zhyrau district. FOCI are being built in several localities at once: in the villages of Aktas, Saryshagan, named after G. Mustafin, in the city of Priozersk. A stadium is being built in Karkaralinsk," Rustam Kozhabekov said.
To improve the infrastructure on the ground, a sports and recreation complex for 100 places is being built in the village of Karagaily under the program "Auyl – El Besigi".
This year, 42 sports grounds with artificial turf and 8 multifunctional hockey courts have been installed in the region.
Special attention is paid to the development of sports for people with disabilities. There are sections for swimming, athletics, bocce, wheelchair tennis, 5x5 football and badminton.
The implementation of the Art-Sport program continues. This year, almost 9 thousand children took part in it in 23 sports. In 2025, it is planned to increase funding, which will expand the program to cover 10,200 children.
Rustam Kozhabekov also reported on the achievements of Karaganda athletes. To date, the national team consists of 1,145 people. As a result of participation in the competition, athletes won 14,687 medals, of which 4,693 were gold.
– A monthly allowance is provided to stimulate the leading athletes of the region. To date, 178 athletes in 30 sports receive it. Also, the award of the akim of the region is paid to athletes for high sporting achievements," Rustam Kozhabekov said.
