A large-scale championship in three types of wrestling took place in Taraz. The Karaganda region was represented by 29 athletes.
10 girls from our region competed in women's wrestling. Three of them won medals.
Guldana Bekesh was awarded gold in the 59 kg weight category.
Two bronze medals were won by Zulfiya Yakhyarova and Elmira Syzdykova in the weight categories of 59 and 75 kg, respectively.
11 athletes represented the region in Greco-Roman wrestling. Ibrahim Magomadov was awarded gold in the 77 kg weight category. Olzhas Ergali won the bronze (82 kg).
Of the eight Karaganda wrestlers, two took fifth place.
– We consider this result satisfactory. Of course, we expected more, but it is important to say that the strongest athletes of the country participated in this Cup. There were also champions of Kazakhstan and Asia. There were only no Olympic and world champions," says Sagadat Abdikarimov, acting head of the Daulet Wrestling Division.
Now the athletes who won medals at the Cup need to recover. After that, even more hard training will be waiting for them.
– Ahead of us, in 2025, the championship of Kazakhstan, then Asia and the world. We will prepare and wait for new victories," Sagadat Abdikarimov said.
