The Eurasia Film Festival once again confirms its status as the largest event in Central Asia. This year, 70% of the jury are foreign experts from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, France, China, Sweden, Russia, Morocco, which underlines the openness of the festival and its importance for world cinema.
From November 24 to 30, 2024, the XVII Eurasia International Film Festival in Almaty will bring together outstanding film figures – directors, actors, screenwriters and viewers from all over the world.
The event will become a unique platform for the exchange of professional experience, discussion of current trends in the film industry and the development of new approaches to the development of modern cinema.
The festival program includes two main competitions - the international competition is headed by a legend of world cinema: the winner of the Palme d'Or of Cannes, Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The jury consists of Rano Shodieva, Nada Azhari Gillon, Kazakh director Yerlan Nurmukhambetov and Kyrgyz director Artykpai Suyundukov.
The competition of the countries of Central Asia and the Turkic world is headed by Chinese director Li Baohua, known for his works dedicated to cultural heritage. Abdelila El Jauhari, Alexey Telnov and Kazakh producer Zhanna Kuanysheva will evaluate the films together with him.
The participation of the NETPACK jury is especially important, which provides a unique look at the cinematography of Asian countries. This year it consists of Nina Kochelyaeva, Gulbara Tolomushova and Andre Rafael Ivanov.
The prize fund of the festival exceeds 20 million tenge, of which 4 million are provided for the winner of the Grand Prix.
Film screenings will be held from November 25 to November 30 at Kinopark 11 IMAX Esentai cinemas. Admission is free.
The founder and organizer of the festival is traditionally the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The direct organization of the film festival is entrusted to the National Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov.
