In connection with the incident in the courtroom of the city of Uralsk, during which the father of the defendant in the murder case hit a journalist of the online publication umarovnews.kz Talgat Umarov, the Ministry of Culture and Information informs that it is ready to provide full assistance to Talgat Umarov in protecting his rights, including providing a lawyer, and also recalls that criminal liability is provided for obstruction of legitimate journalistic activities.
This unacceptable and egregious incident is an obstruction of the activities of journalists who do their work in the public interest. All participants in the trials must comply with the law and respect the rights of journalists.
