TURKESTAN: A COTTON CLUSTER WILL BE DEVELOPED IN MAKTAARAL

In Maktaaral district, it is planned to implement 8 large projects for the development of a cotton and textile cluster with total investments of 70 billion tenge in the period from 2024 to 2030. These projects will create 3,020 jobs and bring additional tax revenues to the budget in the amount of 1 billion 862 million tenge. This was announced at a meeting dedicated to the Maktaaral economic development strategy until 2030.
Akim's proposals:
- Development of the cotton cluster and diversification of agriculture.
- Implementation of water saving technologies.
- Priority processing of agricultural crops.
- Increasing the logistical potential.
According to akim of the district Bakhyt Asanov, it is planned to build a cotton spinning factory with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year from Cotton MAKTA in 2025-2026, which will create 800 new jobs. The project of a fabric processing factory with a capacity of 13.8 thousand tons from the Global Textile company is also being prepared.
The development strategy attaches special importance to investment projects. In Maktaaral, 53 investment projects with a total value of 94.1 billion tenge are planned to be implemented in 2024-2030, which will create 3,810 jobs and increase tax revenues to 10 billion 431 million tenge.
26 projects worth 15.8 billion tenge are being implemented in agriculture, which will create 541 jobs, and 16 projects worth 75.3 billion tenge with more than 3,100 new jobs in industry. 11 projects are also planned to be implemented in the tourism sector.
Of the 11 industrial projects, 7 will be located in the industrial zone, and 4 in special zones. The total area of the industrial zone is 24 hectares, where 4 projects worth 3 billion 450 million tenge are already operating, creating 137 jobs. For 2024-2030, 7 new projects are planned with a total cost of 4 billion 740 million tenge, which will create about 100 jobs.
It is also planned to reduce the area of cotton plantations to 30 thousand hectares and increase yields to 60 quintals per hectare. The area of corn crops will be increased from 2.6 thousand hectares to 4.1 thousand hectares. In 2025, it is planned to open a warehouse for 10 thousand tons of products through the Agro Gruz logistics company.
