The grand opening of the XVII International Film Festival "Eurasia" took place in Almaty. In honor of the event, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory letter.
Congratulations were read out by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva.
"This is a unique project that represents our culture to the whole world. This year's celebration is timed to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the luminary of Kazakh cinema Shaken Aimanov and the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Kazakhfilm film studio. This has great symbolic significance. Cinematography encourages the public to be creative and creative, teaches the best qualities, thereby instilling a high culture of the entire nation. It also strengthens cultural ties among completely different nationalities," the congratulatory letter says.
The Head of State also noted that the country attaches great importance to the support of the national cinema.
"A lot of work is being done in Kazakhstan to develop this industry. Our specialists make films with deep meaning, keeping up with the older generation in their skills and craftsmanship. Our films participate in prestigious awards all over the world. I believe that the Eurasia International Film Festival will open true hearts and open the way for the best projects. I wish you many creations that will make the viewer think about important things and give spiritual food!" the President noted.
In turn, Aida Balayeva noted that the Eurasia Film Festival is a unique forum that has become a cultural brand of Kazakhstan and the whole of Central Asia. She also stressed that work will continue on the systematic development of the domestic film industry and the improvement of the legislative framework.
The Eurasia International Film Festival will be held from November 24 to 30, and more than 15 countries will take part in it.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov.
The competition will showcase 12 films from different countries representing three continents.
The competition includes works from different countries, from Bangladesh and South Korea to Austria and Qatar. Creative teams from Europe, Asia and the Middle East will present projects combining universal themes with a local context.
