The implementation of a large-scale housing renovation program continues in Shymkent. As part of this initiative, today the mayor of the city handed over the keys to new apartments to residents of the Shymkent City neighborhood. The program includes houses built more than half a century ago and recognized as emergency, as one of the buildings on the bypass road, which is more than 60 years old. It does not meet modern safety and energy efficiency standards, posing a threat not only to residents, but also to the surrounding infrastructure.
Today there are over 2,000 apartment buildings in Shymkent, more than 70% of which were built more than 50 years ago. 134 houses are in disrepair, and the consent of all residents is required before the demolition of each of them. On behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, within the framework of the program "Fair Kazakhstan — for everyone. Now and forever", by 2029 it is planned to demolish 1,500 emergency houses across the country and provide their owners with new apartments.
The peculiarity of the renovation program is that residents of emergency houses receive new apartments of a similar size and with the same number of rooms, but, on average, their new living area will be 20 m2 larger. At the same time, residents will not have to pay for the installation of meters, and all apartments are rented with modern finishes.
Congratulating the new settlers, the akim of Shymkent noted that only by working honestly can much be achieved.
Residents noted that the new housing is not only more spacious, but also more comfortable to live in.It should be noted that the renovation program is aimed at providing high-quality housing for citizens, improving the architectural appearance of the city and modernizing the engineering infrastructure. It is also expected that the renovation will have a positive impact on the environmental situation.
