This year, the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan has achieved significant success in the field of culture and art. This year has become an important stage for the country, marked by many large-scale events that highlighted the diversity and richness of the Kazakh cultural heritage. Successful exhibitions, festivals and tours not only strengthened internal cultural ties, but also contributed to the active promotion of Kazakh culture abroad. The Ministry summarizes the results of its work for 2024.
Kazakh culture abroad: successes and achievements
This year, Kazakh art was presented for the first time at world-famous art venues: the Venice Biennale, the Hime Museum of Asian Arts, which were visited by about two hundred thousand people.
In addition, Kazakhstan's publishing products were demonstrated for the first time at the world's main book exhibition – Frankfurter Buchmesse, which was attended by delegations from 153 countries.
255 students in the field of culture have won international competitions in countries such as China, Italy, Great Britain, Austria, USA, Turkey, Czech Republic, Spain, etc.
This year, Kazakhstan's creative teams have successfully toured abroad, which took place in 14 countries, including France, Vietnam, Turkey and the USA. These performances contributed to the strengthening of international relations and the popularization of Kazakh culture abroad.
The exhibition "The Golden Man and the Great Steppe" at the Tianjin Museum has also become a significant event, attracting 400 thousand visitors since its opening.
The Days of Culture of Kazakhstan, held in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, became an important part of cultural diplomacy.
An equally successful achievement was the launch of the information and educational platform "Qazaq Culture", which covers eight languages, including the six official languages of the United Nations, as well as Kazakh and Turkish. This initiative was aimed at drawing the attention of the world community to the rich cultural heritage and diversity of Kazakhstan.
In 2024, the names of Kazakh figures were immortalized. Monuments and busts of famous personalities of Kurmangazy and Abai were installed in Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Tatarstan. These achievements confirm the Ministry's active work to strengthen the image of Kazakh culture in the international arena and its further development.
The cultural image of the country
In 2024, Kazakhstan became a venue for many significant cultural events that highlighted the richness and diversity of cultural heritage.
One of the highlights was the opening and closing ceremonies of the V World Nomad Games, which attracted more than 17 thousand spectators. The closing of the games was marked by a grand concert by the famous Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen.
An exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci's painting "The Beautiful Princess" was organized at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which attracted the attention of 37.7 thousand visitors.
The XVII Eurasia International Film Festival is taking place at the end of November, which includes an international competition and a film competition from Central Asian countries and the Turkic world. The festival presents about 50 films from various countries such as Azerbaijan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Russia, Tajikistan, Tatarstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Philippines and France, which emphasizes the diversity of cinema.
Among the numerous concerts held this year, it is worth noting the symphony concert with the participation of Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Marat Bisengaliev, which took place on October 30 in Astana.
The tour of the Astana Opera Theater at the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Moscow, which took place on October 16, became an important step in the cultural diplomacy of Kazakhstan.
Concerts dedicated to the work of People's Artist of Kazakhstan Maira Mukhamedkyzy and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Shomishbai Sariyev also attracted many art fans.
Anniversary events of outstanding personalities and significant dates in Kazakhstan
This year, Kazakhstan is hosting large-scale anniversary events dedicated to outstanding personalities and significant dates. These events not only perpetuate the memory of great figures, but also contribute to the further development of the country's cultural heritage.
Among the key events: the 90th anniversary of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra, the 100th anniversary of Sydyk Mukhamedzhanov, the 95th anniversary of Bibigul Tulegenova, the 130th anniversary of Saken Seifullin, the 130th anniversary of Beimbet Mailin, the 100th anniversary of Berdibek Sokpakbayev, the 100th anniversary of Abdizhamil Nurpeisov, the 90th anniversary of Gerold Belger, the 85th anniversary of Abish Kekilbayev, the 85th anniversary of Fariza Ongarsynova.
These events emphasize the importance of Kazakh culture and its promotion in the international arena. So, in November, a presentation of the novel by Berdibek Sokpakbayev "Menin atym Kozha", translated into French, took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
