The next Asian Boxing Championship among men and women will begin today in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The continental championship, which will last until December 11, will be held in 13 weight categories for men and 12 weight categories for women.

It was originally planned that the current Asian Championship would be held in the capital of Jordan, Amman, where this competition was already held two years ago. However, due to security issues, the event was moved from Jordan to Thailand. Thus, for the ninth time in its history, the Kingdom of Thailand hosts the Asian Boxing Championship, which has been held since 1963.

A special feature of this championship will be the participation of Ukrainian boxers, who will compete for the first time at the Asian continental Championship. Despite the fact that this is the first time at the Asian championship, European championships have already been attended by participants from other continents, such as boxers from Israel and Egypt.

13 boxers will compete in the men's national team of Kazakhstan at the Asian Championship. Two of them – Sanjar Tashkent Bay (48 kg, Asian champion 2022) and Aybek Oralbai (92 kg, Asian champion 2022) – have previously won this tournament. In addition, four world champions will compete at the tournament: Sanzhar Tashkenbai (48 kg), Saken Bibosynov (51 kg), Mahmud Sabyrkhan (54 kg) and Bekzat Nurdauletov (86 kg).
