This year, the socio-political newspaper of the Turkestan region "South Kazakhstan" turns 100 years old. In honor of this significant date, a newspaper alley was opened in the Silk Road Park of the regional center. The event was attended by representatives of the intelligentsia of the region and the editorial staff, who planted 100 seedlings in honor of the centennial anniversary.

The newspaper "South Kazakhstan" has experienced many difficulties in its long history. Even in the most difficult times, when there were not enough funds for the issue, she did not lose touch with her reader. Today, in its 100th year, the publication has become a true chronicle of the national spirit. We witnessed the opening of the newspaper alley, and let the planted seedlings grow into a shady park, which will become a symbol of its longevity. There can be no better wish for the centennial edition," said the director and editor—in-chief of the newspaper Abai Balazhan.
The opening of the alley was attended by the chief editors of regional newspapers from different regions of Kazakhstan. Thus, representatives of the newspapers of Mangystau, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions, together with their Turkestan colleagues, planted trees.
It is worth noting that a series of festive events will continue tomorrow at the scientific universal library "Farab". A solemn meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the regional newspaper "South Kazakhstan" will be held here.
