The fifth meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asia–China format was held in the spirit of mutual cooperation
01.12.2024 14:06:10 2075Chengdu, December 1, 2024 – The fifth meeting of foreign ministers of the Central Asia–China format took place today, which brought together the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and China. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.
The event became an important platform for strengthening partnerships and discussing key issues of regional and international importance. At the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening political dialogue, developing economic ties and strengthening cultural and humanitarian exchanges. The Ministers noted the importance of continuing joint work within the framework of the concept of "Stability, security and sustainable development of the region".
The key topics of discussion were economic cooperation, regional security issues, transport and logistics cooperation, climate and ecology, as well as the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties.
The meeting participants stressed the need to implement joint infrastructure projects, simplify trade procedures and stimulate investment within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. The Ministers discussed strengthening measures to combat terrorism, extremism and transnational crime, as well as coordinating efforts in the field of cybersecurity.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to increase cooperation in the field of environmental sustainability, including water resources, renewable energy and environmental protection. It was also decided to deepen exchange programs in the fields of education, tourism and culture to strengthen mutual understanding between peoples.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan thanked the parties for a constructive dialogue and the opportunity to discuss new vectors for further development of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and China. "Kazakhstan considers this format as the most important platform for strengthening our common future. We are convinced that deepening cooperation in the field of economics, security and ecology will allow us to achieve stability and prosperity throughout the region," M.Nurtleu said.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted that Central Asia remains China's key partner in promoting stability and prosperity. "Our format serves as an important platform for coordinating strategic priorities and promoting mutually beneficial projects," the Chinese minister said.
The meeting participants also discussed the main aspects of preparations for the II Summit of the Central Asia–China format, which will be held in 2025 in Kazakhstan.
Representatives of the Central Asian countries expressed gratitude for the initiative to hold the meeting and stressed the need to continue this format in order to achieve joint goals.
In addition, the Ceremony of sending the 5000th truck along the Tianfu-Sichuan cross–border highway and the 500th train to Central Asia became a vivid example of practical interaction of the format.
The final document of the meeting was a Joint Statement adopted by the heads of foreign ministries, which reflected the agreements reached and outlined a course for further development of interregional cooperation.
The parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the Central Asia–China format in 2025 in Kazakhstan on the eve of the Summit.
