The X Asia-Pacific Games have started in Malaysia

The grand opening of the X Asia-Pacific Games took place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. About 1,300 hearing impaired athletes from 24 countries participate in this major sporting event. They compete in 10 sports: athletics, taekwondo, judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, table tennis, badminton, chess, bowling and football.
The national team of Kazakhstan is represented by 80 deaf athletes who will take part in 8 sports: athletics, tekwondo, judo, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, badminton, chess and table tennis.
"The national team of Kazakhstan has been participating in the Asia-Pacific Games since 1996. This is our fifth participation this year. Our athletes have completed training camps in Bishkek, Issyk-Kul, Karaganda, Shymkent, Almaty and Almaty region and arrived at the games with good preparation. We hope that our athletes will perform well and replenish the piggy bank of medals," said Kairatbek Seitbekov, head of the Sports Department of the Center for Sports Training of Persons with Disabilities.
The first victories
• Kazakhstani athletes have successfully started their performance with chess. In the blitz:
• Kazakhstan's Balzhan Zhumagazieva became the women's champion of the Asia-Pacific Games, scoring 8 points.
• Among men, Samazhan Kettebekov won silver with a score of 8.5 points.
The Asia-Pacific Games will last until December 8th.
