The Kazakh Foreign Minister met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization
03.12.2024 03:05:04 2226Mashhad, December 2, 2024 – On the eve of the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member Countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO), Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu met with ECO Secretary General Asad Majid Khan.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of digital technologies.
The Head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry elaborated on the main priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the ECO Council of Ministers in 2025 and stressed the importance of strategic partnership with the Organization, which has great potential for the region.
In turn, Secretary General A. Khan noted the active role and initiatives of Kazakhstan in the Organization, filling the agenda with real content.
During the meeting, issues of strengthening cultural and educational ties, developing environmental sustainability, and joint efforts to overcome global challenges such as climate change and energy security were also discussed.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation was founded in 1985. The member States are 10 countries of Central Asia, the Middle East and the South Caucasus. The organization's goal is to promote economic development in the region through coordination of efforts in such areas as economics, trade, transport, ecology and humanitarian cooperation.
