Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev held a reporting meeting with residents of the North Kazakhstan region. The event was attended by public activists, media representatives, representatives of the tourism industry, athletes and residents of the region.
During the meeting, Yerzhan Yerkinbayev reported on the main initiatives and plans of the ministry in the field of tourism. In particular, the meeting paid special attention to the issues of developing tourism infrastructure, attracting investment and increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region.
"The North Kazakhstan region has great potential for tourism development. The Imantau-Shalkar resort area, which is part of the Kokshetau National Park, is one of the main tourist destinations in the region. There are already 36 resorts operating here, 10 of which serve travelers year-round. We prioritize the development of infrastructure and ecotourism,” said Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.
This year, more than 115 thousand tourists visited the region, including about 6 thousand foreigners. In order to improve the tourist infrastructure and increase the number of travelers, 21 investment projects are being implemented. Among the completed projects are the modernization of recreation centers, the construction of recreation areas, and the reconstruction of roads in the resort area. Currently, construction work is underway on 18 infrastructure projects.
Ecotourism is also actively developing in the region: it is planned to build modern glamping sites, visitor centers, and create new tourist routes in the region. Such projects will also help attract tourists and reduce the impact on nature. This is very important for the national park.
In 2024, the volume of tourist services in the region amounted to 1.8 billion tenge. The industry is developing steadily. The income of accommodation establishments across the country increased by 27% in the first nine months of 2024, reaching 224 billion tenge.
"More than 225 thousand people are involved in sports in the North Kazakhstan region. This is 42.9% of the region's population. Also, more than 50 thousand children are covered by free sports sections," - said Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.
Over the past two years, 4 physical education and health complexes and 4 indoor hockey rinks have been built in the region. The first stage of the renovation of the Karasai stadium has also been completed. The Dynamo stadium in Petropavlovsk has been renovated and a new artificial field has been laid. The construction of swimming pools, hockey rinks and sports complexes continues in the region.
After the reporting meeting, Yerzhan Yerkinbayev personally received citizens and listened to questions and suggestions from residents.
