On behalf of the Head of State, systematic work is underway in the country to increase the potential of rural schools. Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev reported on the results of the work done at the Government meeting.

According to him, today there are about 8 thousand schools in Kazakhstan, of which 67% are rural schools. At the same time, every second rural school is poorly equipped.

40% of all schoolchildren in the whole country study in them. Therefore, the Government pays special attention to the development of rural schools, improving their material and technical base and reducing the gap in the quality of education between urban and rural schools.

"The reduction of the gap between urban and rural schools is also confirmed by the results of international PISA studies. Compared with the results of PISA-2018, the difference in mathematical and natural literacy in 2022 decreased by 4-5 points, and the level of reading literacy remained the same," Gani Beisembayev noted.

Recall that according to the results of the PISA-2018 rating on mathematical literacy, the gap between urban and rural schools was 22 points, and in PISA-2022 it decreased to 18 points. There were also 31 points in science literacy in 2018, and 26 points in 2022. Thus, an international study shows that the quality of education in rural schools is improving.
