Akim of the region Yermek Kosherbayev, together with the public, supported the proposal to create a permanent "Bureau of Environmental Protection "Oskemen Tynysy" at the Public Council.
The aim of the new public body is to improve living conditions for Ustkamenogorets, primarily in terms of air quality.
In particular, we are talking about increasing the number of sensors monitoring the atmosphere, calibrating them, improving filtration at enterprises, evaluating the effectiveness of existing measures and initiatives, developing new recommendations, organizing educational programs to raise awareness of residents about the dangers of air pollution and possible ways to reduce it, monitoring compliance with environmental standards.
The head of the region noted that the "Bureau of Environmental Protection "Oskemen Tynysy" will be engaged in work related to accelerating the implementation of the city's eco-projects, starting with the roadmap.
- I have already said that effective mechanisms of interaction between society, M&E and nature users are needed. Eco-activists on their site will urgently address issues related to improving the situation with the involvement of government agencies and enterprises through constructive dialogue. And most importantly, public control will be strengthened. Every resident of the city is rightfully a member of this council. No one expects that everything will change momentarily, but by doing a common cause, step by step we will achieve the desired result," Yermek Kosherbayev noted.
In turn, the public figures shared their expert opinion, supporting the proposed initiative.
- The number of air pollution sensors should be greater and they should be evenly distributed throughout the city. The population should be aware of what kind of coal we burn, it is also important to work out the issue with the private sector. In the work of the Bureau of Environmental Protection, balanced steps are important for a successful result," added public figure Vitaly Chernetsky.
The Governor of the region proposed Elena Berezinskaya-Abilova, a member of the public council of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the head of the branch of the ECOJER Association for East Kazakhstan region, to head the new council
- Over the past 10 years, environmentalists and independent experts have been invited for the first time to discuss the environmental situation and make a decision on the creation of an environmental protection bureau. Active interaction with the public is necessary on the issue of ecology. The work should be carried out openly for the public, - said Elena Berezinskaya-Abilova.
It should be noted that the Bureau of Environmental Protection plans to include specialists from various professional fields who will help to comprehensively solve environmental, social and medical problems. It is assumed that the eco Protection bureau will become a platform for interaction between citizens, businesses and authorities.
