During the staff meeting, the head of the region, Askhat Shakharov, considered issues related to winter road maintenance and ensuring safe driving on the highway.
Head of the Department of Passenger Transport and Highways of Aktobe region Aybek Kayer said that 46 enterprises are responsible for the winter maintenance of highways in the region. They have prepared 505 pieces of equipment, of which 104 special vehicles serve roads of national importance, with a length of 1,869 km.
38.6 thousand tons of inert materials and 2.9 thousand tons of diesel fuel were harvested. To date, 200 tons of diesel fuel and more than 6 thousand tons of inert materials have been used on highways of regional significance.
"Work on cleaning roads and sprinkling salt is carried out by contractors on a regular basis, and constant monitoring has been established. Since the beginning of the year, restrictions have been imposed six times on national highways. Currently, the passage in all directions is open. However, in case of deterioration of weather conditions and closure of traffic on the highways, we have 15 heating stations equipped with beds ready. These heating points are located along the trails. Bypass roads with exits were also built in Khromtau and Aitekebi districts to improve the situation on the Samara—Shymkent highway," the head of the department said.
Akim of the region instructed to strengthen control over the quality of work performed by contractors, ensure regular cleaning of roads from snow and ice, as well as sprinkling them with salt to prevent the formation of ice. Also, to establish round-the-clock monitoring of road conditions, especially in bad weather, in order to promptly respond and prevent congestion and accidents, and to ensure that road services and rescue units are ready for an emergency response in case of worsening weather conditions, including the mobilization of equipment and personnel.
