Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed on the development of technical specifications for automation of water metering in the Syrdarya River
Earlier, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan identified 10 sites in the Syrdarya River basin where automated water metering systems will be installed. 5 of them are located on the territory of our country, and 5 more, respectively, on the territory of Uzbekistan.
Today, the parties are negotiating with international financial organizations. The general terms of reference for the project are being developed by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
"It should be noted that only the first 10 sites have been identified. In general, we plan to automate all the main hydraulic posts and ensure full transparency of water metering. We are actively promoting this issue in negotiations with our Kyrgyz and Tajik colleagues," said Nurlan Aldamzharov, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
