The year 2025 in the country was declared the "Year of Working Professions" by the Head of State. In this regard, a number of measures are aimed at strengthening the vocational education system and training highly qualified specialists for various sectors of the region's economy.
The issues of developing vocational education in the region and increasing the prestige of working professions were discussed at a meeting chaired by Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov.
"Colleges play a key role in the training of workers who are the basis for the development of industry, agriculture and other important sectors. In connection with the President's instructions, in 2025 we will focus on improving educational programs that will be aimed at developing specifically working professions. We must provide high-quality training for specialists who meet modern labor market requirements. It is also important to pay attention to the modernization of educational institutions, the introduction of modern technologies and practical skills so that our graduates can successfully work at enterprises in the region," the akim outlined the priorities.
As noted by the acting head of the Department of Education Nurgul Bertleuova, there are 40 colleges in the region that teach students in 94 specialties and 139 qualifications. For the 2024-2025 academic year, 7,654 places have been allocated by state order, including a significant increase in the number of places for technical specialties.
Special attention is paid to the introduction of dual education, which covers more than 70% of the region's colleges. This allows students to take practical training at enterprises, which significantly increases their chances of employment. The employment rate of students enrolled in the dual system is 91%. Within the framework of this initiative, 948 tripartite agreements have been signed between colleges, enterprises and students.
In addition, an atlas of new specialties for the Aktobe region has been prepared for five key industries, such as oil and gas, mining, transport and logistics, renewable energy sources and water management. A roadmap for college profiling was also developed, which included measures to adapt educational programs in accordance with the needs of these industries. As part of the implementation of the map, a number of actions were carried out to correct the state order, taking into account the industry specialization of colleges, which makes it possible to train specialists for the demanded areas of the region's economy.
In addition, international relations with educational institutions in Russia and China are actively developing, which will allow students and teachers to complete internships and exchange experiences.
In 2025, it is planned to further consolidate colleges, modernize the material and technical base, as well as introduce new educational programs to improve students' skills and their demand in the labor market.
Lazzat Urazbayeva, Head of the Department for the Coordination of Employment and Social Programs, spoke about the employment of college graduates. She emphasized that the region needs 7,503 specialists, of which 4,812 are working professions. The forecast for 2025 assumes the need for 2,488 specialists, including 1,609 workers.
Short-term professional training programs covering various specialties with a duration of up to 6 months are provided for the training of in-demand personnel. In 2024, 860 people were trained, of which 732 were employed. 603 vocational training courses have been published on the Electronic Labor Exchange portal, of which 271 courses are free. By 2025, it is planned to train 560 unemployed people and 2,220 people in online courses.
Askhat Shakharov once again noted that as part of the implementation of the President's instructions, a comprehensive program will be created to improve the status of working professions, including training, advanced training of workers, as well as increasing the availability of vocational education. It is planned to organize contests, events and exhibitions aimed at promoting working professions in order to show their importance and attractiveness to young people.
"It is necessary to actively promote the idea of a hardworking specialist in society, create conditions for the development of working skills, and train qualified specialists in various industries. We will work with educational institutions, businesses, and local governments to attract more young people into working professions and show that this is not only honorable, but also promising in terms of career growth. I am sure that raising the status of working professions will have a great impact on the socio-economic development of the region," the mayor stressed.
