There is a positive trend in the socio-economic development of the city of Turkestan. Last year, the gross regional product of the regional center amounted to 421.7 billion tenge. This was noted at a meeting chaired by Akim of the Turkestan region Nuralkhan Kusherov.
The head of the region instructed the responsible persons to step up work on the development of Turkestan and start implementing new projects.
– The draft law “On the special status of the city of Turkestan”, prepared on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was recently approved by the Mazhilis of Parliament. This law will have a positive impact on the further development of the holy city of Turkestan. Step up your work and take on effective projects," said Nuralkhan Kusherov.
The number of production facilities in Turkestan is increasing. At the moment, the city has a Special Economic Zone with an area of 180 hectares, as well as an Industrial zone on the territory of 190 hectares. 21 projects with a total cost of 10.5 billion tenge have been implemented in these zones, which has created about 1,000 new jobs. In the near future, it is planned to implement 19 more projects, including the production of concrete products, doors, bitumen, upholstered furniture and lime.
Measures to ensure employment of the population are also being implemented successfully. In 2024, more than 10,000 jobs were created, and the plan was fulfilled by 116.2%.
Work to provide residents with housing continues. Last year, 961 apartments were commissioned, and 944 more apartments are planned to be commissioned this year.
Work on the development of the city of Turkestan will continue.
