Kazakhstan has adopted a National Plan to reduce CO2 emissions into the environment and became the first country in Central Asia to support the ICAO initiative.

In order to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals to combat climate change, as well as support the initiative of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to reduce the impact of Aviation on the global climate, the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a national plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) in the aviation sector.
The national plan aims to significantly reduce the impact of Aviation on the surrounding cake, taking into account the growing challenges associated with climate change and sustainable development.
The plan provides for the introduction of a number of initiatives, including measures to improve the infrastructure of airports using energy-efficient technologies, the development of coordinated measures for the transition of industry entities to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), legislative amendments to support the ICAO carbon emission assessment. The adoption of the plan is part of Kazakhstan's commitment to comply with international agreements on climate change.
The national plan will be implemented with the active participation of all interested parties, as well as subjects of the civil aviation industry.
In order to adjust the measures and improve their effectiveness, monitoring of the results of their implementation will be carried out on an ongoing basis.
