In Akmola region, flood prevention measures have been increased three times compared to last year

According to Akim of Akmola region Marat Akhmetzhanov, 65 km of drainage channels have been created in 174 settlements, 38 km of river channels have been cleaned, 34 km of culverts have been expanded and deepened. 110 km of dams have been strengthened, 21 km of new dams have been erected, culverts have been constructed, and water pipelines have been cleaned. Additional hydraulic posts have been set up in 9 settlements to control the water level.
"Gateways for protection are being installed in the city of Atbasar. They ensure the safe flow of flood waters, reducing the risk of flooding of approximately 400 homes. Having purchased dredgers, they deepened the bottom of the Zhabai River. Similar work was carried out on the Kilshakty River in the regional center," the speaker said at a press conference at the CCS site.
In addition, taking into account the proposals of the population, a bypass canal with a total length of 8 km is being built in the villages of Talapker and Koyandy of the Tselinograd district to pass meltwater, 3 dams are being built, the banks of the Zhabai, Shagalaly and Kalkutan rivers are being strengthened.
