KAZAKHSTANI STUDENT-ATHLETES LEAVE FOR TURIN UNIVERSITY

The first group of Kazakhstani student-athletes flew from Astana to participate in the XXXII World Winter Universiade, which will be held in Turin (Italy). Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Yeshenkulov, Director General of the National Research and Scientific Research Center of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Tashmetov and media representatives attended the graduation ceremony.
On the night of January 8-9, 2025, representatives of the Kazakhstan national ice hockey team were the first to fly to Turin. Among them is hockey player Abylaikhan Suleimenov, who will carry the national flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Universiade. Also, on the night of January 9-10, 16 athletes in cross-country skiing and 5 people in paralympic races, who will represent Kazakhstan, went to Turin.
The Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed support for the athletes who will defend the honor of the country and wished them good luck.
We remind you that about 2,000 athletes from 57 countries will take part in the 2025 Universiade. The competition program includes 11 sports in which 90 sets of medals will be awarded.
The Kazakhstan national team consists of 103 athletes who will compete for medals in 10 sports: biathlon, cross-country skiing, winter orienteering, freestyle skiing, figure skating, hockey (men and women), paralympic racing, alpine skiing and short track.
