Kazakhstanis began to spend more money on online purchases. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, 3.2 trillion tenge was spent by citizens. Such data was provided by Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev at a Government meeting where the issue of e-commerce development was considered.
In particular, the head of the department said that starting from 2020, the volume of electronic commerce in the country has increased fivefold. However, it still remains below the global average. However, given the large number of young people, the development of fintech, the availability of the Internet and the popularity of cashless payments, Kazakhstan has a high potential for the development of online sales.
By 2029, the indicator of electronic commerce is planned to increase almost three times and bring it to 9.3 trillion tenge. To promote this area, the Government has adopted an online commerce development plan. It provides for the improvement of legislation on e-commerce, the launch of e-commerce training courses in all regions of the country, and the introduction of financial measures of state support for entrepreneurs in e-commerce.
