Social support and development of people with disabilities remains a priority task of the Department of Employment and Social Protection of Astana city. More than 36,000 people with disabilities live in the city, of which more than 26,000 are adults and over 10,000 are children, the official website of the Mayor's Office of the capital reports.
In 2024, more than 37 thousand units of various means were provided to provide people with disabilities with technical means of rehabilitation and services: prosthetic and orthopedic care, sign language assistance, wheelchairs, sanatorium treatment, etc.
In 2024, 7,761 people received special social services. These services are provided in 11 subordinate institutions. Among the key institutions:
1. Sharapat Social Service Center;
2. The Nurly-Zhurek Center;
3. The Kamkor Center;
4. Demeu Re-Socialization Center;
5. Umit Crisis Center;
6. Zhansaya Center;
7. Katarkol Rehabilitation Center;
8. Active longevity centers.
