Ambassador of Kazakhstan Meets with Chairperson of Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission

Chisinau, August 20, 2026. Ambassador of Kazakhstan Almat Aidarbekov met with Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova Angelica Caraman.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the upcoming elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 23, 2026.
Chairperson of Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission Ms. треCaraman will participate in international election observation in Kazakhstan. During her visit, she also expressed interest in familiarizing herself with the organization of the electoral process and the activities of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in exchanging professional experience between the electoral authorities of the two countries.
The sides also discussed the organization of voting in Kazakhstan at the polling station to be opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Chisinau. Kazakh citizens residing or temporarily staying in Moldova will be able to exercise their right to vote at this polling station.
Ms. Caraman briefed the Ambassador on the ongoing work to improve the electoral legislation of the Republic of Moldova. In particular, she noted that the new Electoral Code is currently under consideration by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on preparations for the upcoming local elections in the Republic of Moldova, which are expected to be held in autumn 2026.
The sides expressed their interest in further developing professional contacts, mutual election observation, and the exchange of experience between the electoral authorities of Kazakhstan and Moldova.
