At a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, preparations for the IX Asian Winter Games were reviewed. Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov made a presentation.
The Head of Government stressed that holding major sporting events stimulates the interest of the country's population in winter sports, as well as promotes the development of tourism. At the same time, the importance of accessibility of sports infrastructure facilities for Kazakhstanis was noted.
"All sports facilities should remain accessible to the general public. This will increase the number of people involved in sports, as well as have a positive impact on the development of business in the service sector around these facilities. Akimats and businesses need to work more actively in this direction," said Olzhas Bektenov.
In addition, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, together with the akimats, to step up efforts to attract investors and create favorable conditions for the construction of sports infrastructure, including ski trails in Almaty, Almaty region, East Kazakhstan and other regions. Today, the workload of one of the most popular winter resorts, Shymkent, exceeds its design capacity per day. In 2024, the number of visitors exceeded 1.5 million people.
