The national team of Kazakhstan will participate in all six sports in 10 disciplines of the IX Asian Winter Games in China. The Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov spoke about the preparation of the team for the upcoming competitions at a Government meeting.
According to him, the composition of the national team has already been approved. 138 athletes will go to the Asian Games. They will compete for 51 sets of medals. Great hopes are pinned on biathletes, skiers, speed skaters, as well as hockey players who are the current Asian champions.
Hockey player Adil Beketaev and Olga Tikhonova, representing the short track, will serve as flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the IX Asian Winter Games.
