A solemn awarding ceremony was held at the Department of Emergency Situations of Almaty for employees who participated in the elimination of a fire in the building of the Kazakh-British Technical University.
The event was attended by the management and staff of the Emergency Department, as well as KBTU Rector Maratbek Gabdullin and Vice Rector for Infrastructure Salavat Bektemisov.
By order of the Minister of Emergency Situations, for conscientious performance of official duties while extinguishing a fire in the KBTU building, medals "Ortte korsetken kaysarlygy ushin" were awarded:
Musin Dias Radievich – Head of the Department of Fire Fighting and Rescue Operations;
Kamil Makhmutzhanovich Magamedov – Chief Specialist of the Department of Fire Fighting and Rescue Operations;
Suleymanov Ruslan Bakhtiyaruly – commander of the department of the fire department No. 12 of the Zhetysu district UCS;
Aliaskarov Darkhan Zhakitbekovich – senior firefighter and rescuer of the PCH-9 UCH of the Almaly district;
Nugumanov Kanatbek Talgatovich – senior driving instructor of the HRC-6 fire truck in the Auezovsky district;
Taldybaev Bakytzhan Bakhtbergenovich is a firefighter and rescuer of the HRC-5 UCHS of the Medeu district.
KBTU Rector Maratbek Gabdullin thanked the rescuers for their dedicated work: "Thanks to your efforts, we managed to prevent serious consequences and preserve our historical building, which is an important part of the cultural and educational heritage of Kazakhstan. We are deeply grateful to you for your dedication to your work and to the Motherland. Thanks to your dedicated work, we, the residents of the city, feel safe and confident in the future. You are real heroes who risk yourself daily for our safety!"
As a sign of gratitude, on behalf of the university staff, the rescuers received a memorable souvenir – a Crystal model of the building.
We remind you that on January 11 at 22:10 p.m. A fire broke out in the five-storey KBTU building on an area of 120 square meters.m. Rescuers of a higher rank promptly arrived at the scene and began extinguishing with four combat sites. The elimination of the fire was complicated by the structural features of the building, high fire load and heavy smoke. An operational headquarters was deployed at the scene, headed by the leadership of the Emergency Department, with online coordination of the work of the Command Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the firefighters, the historic building was saved. At the time of the localization of the fire, the Flag of Kazakhstan was removed from the roof of the KBTU without damage. 80 employees and 28 pieces of equipment of the Emergency department of Almaty were involved in extinguishing the fire.
