More than a hundred wrestlers from the military units of the Abai, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Ayagoz, and Usharal garrisons competed in seven weight categories.
According to Colonel Bekbolat Gabdullin, Deputy Commander of the Vostok RGC, according to the results of the competitions, a team will be formed to participate in the Kazakh Kuresi championship for the Commander-in-Chief of the Army Cup.
– Kazak kuresi is a national sport that develops not only dexterity and perseverance, but also willpower. The native national struggle reflects the power and heroism of the Kazakh batyrs. We will remember these competitions with bright performances and new names of young athletes," said Colonel B. Gabdullin.
So, in the 55 kg weight category, soldier Elshat Kurbanov, who is undergoing military service as part of an artillery brigade, achieved success.
– It wasn't easy for my rivals, because I was engaged in wrestling for six years before the army. There is a great merit in this victory from my coach and parents," said Private Elshat Kurbanov.
According to the results of the two–day competitions, the first place in the team competition was taken by the military unit 28738 of the Abai garrison, the second - by the fighters of the military unit 10810 of the Ayagoz garrison, the third – by the athletes of the military unit 30217.
The winners and prize-winners of the competitions were awarded with medals, cups and diplomas.
