In order to improve legal literacy and prevent offenses among young people, a round table "knowledge of the law – the requirement of time" was organized at Shymkent university.
The event was attended by Deputy Head of the Department for internal policy and Youth Affairs of Shymkent Zangarbek Usupakhmetov, head of the KSU "Youth Resource Center" Marat Spatayev, deputy prosecutor of Karatau district Yerlan Sadibekov, prosecutor of the prosecutor's Office of Karatau district of Shymkent Dinislam Alzhan, head of the Department of Economic investigation of Shymkent Dauren Turgunbay, and Rector of Shymkent University Nurlybek Seitkulov.
During the round table, the speakers paid special attention to the importance of improving the legal literacy of young people and shared their views aimed at determining their role in society.
- Legal literacy is an important tool that every citizen needs to protect their rights and fulfill their duties. In our society, it is possible to prevent offenses only by improving the legal education of young people. Most of the offenses are associated with low legal literacy. Therefore, it is necessary to teach young people from an early age to respect the law and understand the law correctly, – said Dauren Turgunbay, noting the statistics of offenses among young people.
In addition, during the meeting, experts gave young people detailed data on the dangers of harmful substances, the spread of new psychoactive substances, avoiding them and giving examples of victims of easy money making, as well as illegal cases such as internet fraud, microcredit.
During the event, students asked their questions and received legal advice. In addition, ways to combat offenses among young people, legislative changes and new initiatives were discussed.
At the end of the round table, the participants noted the importance of youth activity and conscious citizenship for the formation of a legal culture in society and noted the need to continue legal education.
Specialists intend to organize large-scale events in the future, to contribute to the development of students ' interest in the knowledge of the law, to determine their role in society.
