Preparations for the spring flood period were discussed in the West Kazakhstan region.
Akim of the region Nariman Turegaliyev noted that the upcoming flood season is under the direct control of the Head of State. At the same time, flood prevention efforts are already in full swing in flood-prone areas.
54 protective dams have been erected along the Zhaiyk River in the region for 102 km of flood-prone areas, 1,817 pieces of equipment are involved, more than 4 thousand people are involved.
It is worth noting that preparatory work for the spring flood period in the region began last summer. Experts have studied dangerous areas, as a result of which a special roadmap for preventive maintenance has been developed.
According to forecasts of Kazhydromet specialists, the threat of flooding also remains this year.
"In January of this year, the same amount of precipitation fell as in the same period last year. As a result, an ice layer 2 cm thick formed on the surface of the earth in the Taskalinsky, Syrymsky, Burlinsky, Terektinsky, Baytereksky districts and the city of Uralsk. If the air temperature rises sharply and there is heavy rain, then in March this ice cover can lead to floods," says T.Shapanov, director of the Kazhydromet branch in the West Kazakhstan region.
Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Turegaliyev instructed to keep the condition of reservoirs and ponds under control, clean the channels of water structures that ensure the passage of flood waters, as well as ensure the readiness of forces and means to eliminate floods, protective dams, etc.
"We must be as prepared as possible for spring. It is important that we carry out high-quality flood prevention measures. I instruct the akims of cities, districts and relevant institutions to strengthen this work," said Akim of the region Nariman Turegaliyev.
