Akim of the Turkestan region Nuralkhan Kusherov held a meeting with Muzaffar Razakov, head of the Global Textile Group, during which he discussed the progress of the project aimed at developing the cotton cluster.
Global Textile, one of the largest Uzbek companies involved in the cotton and textile cluster, is implementing a project to open a textile factory and logistics center in Maktaaral district of Turkestan region. The foreign company plans to launch five large enterprises that will create more than 2,000 permanent jobs. The total cost of the project is 21 billion tenge.
Within the framework of the Global Textile Turkmenistan project, a logistics center, a cotton processing plant, a textile factory, dyeing, spinning and sewing factories will be launched. The annual capacity of the cotton processing plant will be 13.8 thousand tons. The finished products will be supplied both to the domestic market and exported to European countries. The production will use Swiss technologies.
A roadmap has been developed to provide the factory with the necessary infrastructure. The Governor of the region assured that joint projects will be implemented in accordance with the plan, while administrative support will be provided at all stages.
In 2024, the company brought cotton seeds of the Namangan-77 variety, which were sown on an area of 3.2 thousand hectares. The yield exceeded expectations. The construction of a cotton reception center with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons has also been completed.
The work is carried out in close cooperation with local farmers. Agronomists from Uzbekistan share their experience with dehkans during sowing and harvesting campaigns. According to the plan, the textile factory will start operating in 2027.
Global Textile Company is one of the largest full-cycle enterprises, covering all stages of production from cotton processing and yarn spinning to fabric production and tailoring. Currently, the company employs more than 5,000 people in 15 enterprises located in the Tashkent and Ferghana regions.
