The road from Kaskelen to Almaty will be expanded to eight lanes with five transport overpasses (U-turn horseshoe). This was announced by Minister of Transport Marat Karabayeva during a working trip to Almaty. The work is carried out within the framework of the instructions of the Head of State on the development of the Almaty agglomeration.
The work will be carried out in two stages. The first stage will cover the section from BAKAD to Kaskelen overpass, the second — from Kaskelen overpass to the turnoff to the village of Aytey. The design work has begun.
It is expected that this measure will improve transport links and reduce travel time. The capacity on this site will increase from 60 thousand cars to 90 thousand cars per day. It is expected that the expansion of the road will lead to a reduction in traffic jams. To improve traffic safety for both motorists and pedestrians, specialists will build 12 aboveground pedestrian crossings.
