This year, on behalf of the mayor of Almaty, Yerbolat Dosayev, the number of community centers in Almaty will be increased to 16 - two in each district. In 2024, 8 such organizations were launched in the metropolis.
This project is multifunctional. The community centers provide psychological and legal assistance to youth representatives, and provide consultations on employment, government programs, career guidance, financial literacy, and language courses. It also hosts educational and cultural events, dance halls, recording studios, and TikTok zones.
Last year, over 1.7 thousand events were held in the megacity in the form of lectures, seminars, eco-actions, intellectual games, acoustic evenings, quizzes and quizzes, master classes, board games and sports tournaments with a total coverage of more than 380 thousand young people. Over 12 thousand people received consultations, of which 4.7 thousand were employed, 3.3 thousand were in short–term courses, and 2 thousand were with a psychologist and a lawyer. In total, over 112 thousand young people visited Almaty community centers in 2024.
According to Bolat Kisambayev, a citizen of the city, he met active guys in community centers who jointly implement new and interesting ideas, startups, and find like-minded people. "This is a very cool initiative. We need to support young people. Such centers help not only to employ young people, but also to direct their energy in the right direction. I think that the focus should be on such relevant areas as IT technologies and artificial intelligence. Now the labor market is really changing, and Kazakhstanis need to keep up with the times. As far as I know, there are similar projects in the USA, Japan and other developed countries. I express my gratitude to the Mayor's office of the city for the opportunities provided to us," Bolat Kisambayev shared.
According to volunteer Dilyaram Asanova, thanks to her participation in the activities of the city's community centers, she also made many new interesting and useful acquaintances. "These organizations allow us to unite the efforts of caring citizens. We took part in collecting humanitarian aid for flood victims, participated in the republican environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan", spoke at various forums among bloggers, at the Birlik Sport Fest event, etc. The guys from community centers are always focused on positive results," the girl said.
It should be recalled that 8 community centers in Almaty were launched last year within the framework of the "Program for the development of the city of Almaty until 2025 and medium-term prospects until 2030", with the support of the project office of the city akimat - one in each district.
In addition, since last year, Kazakhstani-made fandomats have been installed in each community center – collection devices for plastic bottles and aluminum cans for their further processing. Thus, environmental values are being formed among the visitors of this youth space, and residents of community centers are actively joining the ranks of eco-rangers, supporting environmental protection activities.
