The meeting of the Akimat of the Kostanay region discussed the most important issues of improving the quality of life of citizens, with a focus on employment and increasing income. The region annually allocates about 4 billion tenge for the implementation of measures in the field of employment.
In 2024, more than 48 thousand people received assistance in employment, 19 thousand new jobs were created. Many jobs were opened in industry and the agro-industrial complex thanks to investment projects. In 2025, it is planned to implement 8 projects that will create 3.4 thousand jobs.
Over the past two years, the number of hired workers in the region has increased by 3%, and the unemployment rate has decreased to 4.6%. Employment measures, grants and training contributed to the growth of incomes of the population, which was reflected in a decrease in the number of families receiving targeted social assistance by 40%. In 2023, 4 thousand families received support, and in 2024 their number decreased to 2.4 thousand.
Much attention is paid to supporting small and medium-sized businesses. The program for financing entrepreneurs at 1% continues to operate; in 2024, 27 loans were issued for 1.1 billion tenge, mainly for the development of livestock farming. Irrigated agriculture projects were also financed for 2 billion tenge.
The number of small and medium-sized businesses in the region has grown by 8% over two years, amounting to almost 66 thousand. Production in this sector increased by 3%, and the volume of output amounted to almost 900 billion tenge.
Work on employing the population will continue in 2025, with special attention being paid to young people, low-income and large families, as well as people with disabilities.
