Prospects for the development of the railway industry: Kanat Sharlapayev meets with Alstom

Today, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev held a meeting with Andrew Deleoni, President of Alstom in Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Alstom is represented in Kazakhstan through the Electric Locomotive Assembly Plant (EKZ) LLP, located in the industrial zone of Astana with an area of 35,000 m2. It is engaged in the production and maintenance of freight and passenger electric locomotives. It is the only electric locomotive manufacturing plant in Central Asia and the Caucasus region.
The plant was opened in December 2012. EKZ is focused on the production of Prima series electric locomotives, such as cargo KZ8A and passenger KZ4AT for JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ). He also exported 40 units of the AZ8A freight electric locomotive to Azerbaijan for the Azerbaijan Railways (ADY).
The company's production capacity is 100 locomotive sections per year.
In addition, EKZ produces on-board transformers and traction system converters with a capacity of 240 units per year. In addition, the plant has been actively engaged in servicing the fleets of KZ8A and KZ4AT locomotives for 25 years since its release.
During the meeting, plans and prospects for the further development of the railway industry in Kazakhstan, as well as the possibility of expanding Alstom's activities in the country were discussed.
