NU IN THE TOP 200: THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION 2025 SUBJECT RANKING HAS BEEN PUBLISHED
The 2025 subject ranking of world universities has been published, which includes thousands of universities in 11 subject areas.
Four leading Kazakhstani universities, Nazarbayev University (NU), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.Gumilyov ENU and Satpayev University, took positions in 9 areas.

Nazarbayev University has become one of the best educational institutions in the world in the field of Education in the new Times Higher Education ranking.
Out of a total of 11 evaluated areas, 9 NU programs were in the top 500. The ranking evaluates universities based on key criteria such as teaching, scientific activity, quality of research, collaboration with industry, and degree of internationalization. It is also worth noting that NU has become one of the leaders in Central Asia, entering the top 200 best universities in the world in the field of education.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, congratulated the staff and students of the NU School of Higher Education and Medicine on their excellent results in the ranking.
"Congratulations on being included in the top 200 global leaders in the field of education according to the Times Higher Education 2025 subject rating. This success is a vivid testimony to your professionalism, dedication and outstanding academic activity," he said.
In 2024, Nazarbayev University entered the prestigious THE rating for the first time, taking positions in the range of 501-600.
It is also worth noting the achievements of other Kazakhstani universities. According to the results of the Times Higher Education by Subject rating, al-Farabi Kazakh National University and L.Gumilyov ENU also took positions in 9 out of 11 programs.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for the first time took the position of 501-600 place in the field of "Education". KazNU demonstrated steady growth in the fields of Arts and Humanities, also taking positions 501-600, and Social Sciences, where the university was in the range of 601-800. In addition, the educational institution has successfully maintained its position of 601-800 places in the disciplines of Business and Economics, Medicine and has risen by 801-1000 places in the field of Life Sciences.
In the world university ranking by subjects for 2025, the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University is in the 601+ category in the fields of Arts and Humanities and Sciences in Education. Two new subjects of ENU – "Arts and Humanities" and "Computer Science" were included in this rating for the first time this year.
The breakthrough of 2025 is Satpayev University, which has taken positions in two programs "Engineering" (1250 + place) and "Physics" (1000+ place).
