Measures are being taken in the Karaganda region to stabilize potato prices and prevent an increase in the cost of socially significant products.
Akim of the region Yermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed to conclude memoranda with agricultural companies for guaranteed supplies of potatoes to retail outlets at fixed prices. And also to continue monitoring prices for socially important goods in order to avoid excessive margins.
53 thousand tons of potatoes are stored in the warehouses of agricultural enterprises in the region, and the total stock, including the stabilization fund and retail chains, is 61.6 thousand tons — this is enough to cover the needs of the population in the off-season.
Currently, 3.2 thousand tons of potatoes have already been supplied under forward contracts, as well as the required amount of other vegetables, which fully covers the needs of the region in the off-season. Deliveries are also continuing according to the reverse scheme.
The Department of Trade and Consumer Protection of the region and the Akimat of Karaganda, in order to prevent exceeding the 15% trade premium for socially important food products, including potatoes, held a meeting with representatives of retail chains. To date, two entrepreneurs have been brought to administrative responsibility for exceeding the trade allowance for potatoes. An inspection was ordered for another outlet.
The Department of Economic Investigations has been instructed to investigate the facts of non-compliance with trade margins. Measures will be taken for all violations.
There are enough stocks of essential goods in the region to meet the needs of residents, and work on price stabilization will continue.
