Employees of the Belodymovsky branch of the Buiratau National Nature Park, located in the Osakarovsky district of the Karaganda region, do not leave marals and bison without food in winter frosts. The animals graze on 400 hectares of the park.
It would be extremely difficult for local inhabitants to survive without outside help in a snowy and frosty winter: snow covered with an ice crust prevents them from foraging on their own. Therefore, the rangers set up feeders with grain, hay and birch brooms.
A real forest canteen was set up for them in the national park. A menu is provided for everyone. For example, marals feast on grain. Other forest dwellers, foxes and hares, are also not ignored. True, they usually get their own food in winter, but they can also eat from feeders.
