About 180 measures have already been carried out in preparation for floods in the Karaganda region. 65 kilometers of protective dams and ramparts have been erected and reinforced, 26 kilometers of drainage and drainage systems have been cleaned, and more than 18 kilometers of riverbeds have been rehabilitated. Culverting capacity has been increased on 75 sections of roads. Stocks of fuel, lubricants and inert materials, bags and food have been made.
Representatives of responsible departments, as well as akims of cities and districts, reported on the work done to prepare for the flood period to the head of the Karaganda region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.
"From March 1, the forces and means of the territorial subsystem of civil protection will be put on high alert," says Margulan Amanbayev, head of the Emergency Department. These are 4,125 personnel and 1,754 pieces of equipment, including units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, military command authorities and the police department.
To date, the situation remains stable: the rivers are in winter mode, the snow level covers the territory of the region by 100%. Sanitary water discharges are carried out from the Samarkand and Intumak reservoirs to prevent overflow.
According to Kazhydromet, water reserves in the snow exceed the norm for the Nur River, but remain close to the norm for Sherubainura and Tokrauyn. The depth of soil freezing is less than last year's values, which reduces the risk of flooding.
— Any risks that may arise should be considered in detail. We must be prepared for any situation," the head of the region emphasized. — We have an action plan, and all services should work out it clearly in order to ensure the safety of residents of the region during the flood season.
